Untapped money-making idea: A camera that cleans oil soaked birds as it photographs them
Posted by drocolate on June 7th, 2010By now I’m sure you have all had the misfortune of seeing some of the pictures of oil-soaked birds that have been flying around the Web.
Oh, you haven’t?
Well let me ruin your day real quick then:
Yeah.
That’s bad. Real, real, real, real bad.
Now, I’m not debating whether or not pictures like this need to be taken. They do. They carry tremendous weight and in our age of instant access they have incredible power. My only issue with these sort of photos is that I can’t help but think to myself: “That camera man needs to drop the camera and help that bird. C’mon!”
Is this realistic? Well, no.
But it could be if we had a camera that, in addition to taking striking photos, had the ability to clean these doomed birds. It could have a big-ass zoom lens for maximum heart-breaking detail and a water tank/hose/soap/Sham-Wow combo for a good preliminary clean.
Yeah. Mix all of that together, make it look sleek as hell and get to work. With this product you’d be killing two birds with one stone!
Hmm… yeah, maybe not the best cliche for this one. Moving on.
I’m still playing with some some names but here’s a few options I’ve got so far:
- CamerAID
- Clean Cam
- Double Shot
- Sham-Wow-era (yeah… this is a major stretch)
The name definitely still needs some work, but so do those birds, so I wanted to rush this idea out there. Let’s get this thing into production NOW! YEAH!
Oh, and in all seriousness, these birds and this whole situation in the gulf has officially gone beyond fucked up and into a new realm of insane horribleness that I don’t have words for. Whether it’s silly shit like my camera idea or BP CEO Tony Hayward licking them all clean, these birds (and fish, plant life, people, etc.) need help and I hope they get it before it’s too late.
Ok, I’m done.
