ITE Holiday Gift Guide — Day 13
Posted by drocolate on December 13th, 2009

Merry Holidays, everyone!
It’s that time again. Time for all of us to go out there and spend our hard-earned money on unnecessary material goods for our friends and family. The holidays are here! Yes!
But, because 2009 has been extremely hard on the wallet, you can’t just throw your money around on a whim. You need to be sure that you’re getting a great gift, and this is where ITE comes in.
Each day, until Christmas day, we will be giving you guys some gift-giving advice. We’re going to break every day into three categories: The Good, The Bad and The Completely Bizarre. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory from there.
Etsy.com is basically ebay for handmade goods. It, like ebay, has some great stuff and some not-so-great stuff. Today’s guide is dedicated to navigating these two extremes.
DAY 13 — Etsy Gifts

The Good
“Dachshund Reading Dog Art Print”
I’m a little biased on this one because I own a dachshund… and she really loves to read.
Seriously though, this is a fun print and there are a lot of other, similar ones if you’re not that into Doxies.
Dogs have come such a long way since playing poker.
Available at etsy.com for $17.99.
The Bad

“two tiny boobie ornaments”
“Hey mom! Can I hang the holiday tit now?!?! Please?!!”
Nothing says “happy holidays” quite like a boob ornament, and now, thanks to etsy, boob ornaments are just a click away.
Yeah… no.
I have to extend a special thanks to the fine folks over at regretsy.com for making my search for an awful etsy gift that much easier. Keep up the good work, guys.
The Completely Bizarre

“PRESERVED LIZARD SPECIMEN real reptile natural history display for victorian cabinet of curiosties”
Yep. It’s a dead lizard. In a jar.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “why would anyone want this?”
Well let me list the reasons why someone may want to take home this admittedly disgusting item:
- It’s only $20. That’s pretty affordable for an entire dead lizard.
- It’s art.
- It would look awesome on your dead things shelf next to your stuffed pig and the Personal Urn that has your grandpa’s ashes in it.
- The lizard inside is an essential ingredient in a lot of different magic potions.
- It’ll be perfect for your cabinet of “curiosties”.
Yeah… yikes.
