ITE Holiday Gift Guide — Day 10

Merry Holidays, everyone!
It’s that time again. Time for all of us to go out there and spend our hard-earned money on unnecessary material goods for our friends and family. The holidays are here! Yes!
But, because 2009 has been extremely hard on the wallet, you can’t just throw your money around on a whim. You need to be sure that you’re getting a great gift, and this is where ITE comes in.
Each day, until Christmas day, we will be giving you guys some gift-giving advice. We’re going to break every day into three categories: The Good, The Bad and The Completely Bizarre. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory from there.
Today we are going to talk about DVDs again, but this time we’re focusing on TV Shows on DVD.
DAY 10 — TV Shows on DVD
The Good
Arrested Development — The Complete Series
Arrested Development is the best TV comedy ever made.
I really don’t know what else to say.
Just buy it. Now.

The Bad
Cops 3-Pack
Ok, I’ll expand on this one a little bit more.
Here are three reasons why this little Cops DVD set is is an awful gift idea.
1. Cops is not a show you seek out. Ever. If Cops is on and you’re a little drunk then you sit back and turn it up, but you should never pop in a DVD of Cops clips. That’s weird.
2. Oh, but wait! One of the DVDs in this set is the BAD GIRLS collection that has material that is “TOO HOT FOR TV”. That makes this whole package worth the price of admission right? Absolutely not. Anyone who has seen an episode of Cops in their lives knows that there is no talent in the Cops universe. And by talent here, I’m talking about beautiful women. The women on Cops look rough. Most of the time we’re catching them post spousal assault… and that’s just not sexy.
3. That fucking intro song. Imagine hearing that every 23 minutes on the DVD. Now imagine killing yourself, because that’s what you would be driven to do after the 14th consecutive spin of “Bad Boys”.
Seriously. Cops on DVD? Absolutely not.
The Completely Bizarre
Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!: Season 1-3
If you’re not watching the Tim and Eric program then you need to start. It’s insanely brilliant. The best way for me to demonstrate this is via an example:
Yeah… maybe it needs a little more explanation. Time and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! is a sketch comedy show that is redefining what sketch comedy is all about. Instead of long bits that get tedious, the Time Eric show has bits that are anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and it all comes at you quickly. Really the only way to see what I’m talking about is to check out some more of their clips.
So go HERE and do that.
And then buy these DVDs. You won’t be sorry.
