In This Economy?

Merry Holidays, everyone!

It’s that time again. Time for all of us to go out there and spend our hard-earned money on unnecessary material goods for our friends and family. The holidays are here! Yes!

But, because 2009 has been extremely hard on the wallet, you can’t just throw your money around on a whim. You need to be sure that you’re getting a great gift, and this is where ITE comes in.

Each day, for the next 24 days, we will be giving you guys some gift-giving advice. We’re going to break every day into three categories: The Good, The Bad and The Completely Bizarre. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory from there.

So with that said, let’s talk about something that is at the top of everyone’s list.

DAY 4 — Sarah Palin Gifts

The Good

Going Rouge by Bob Silber

This book really encapsulates everything that Sarah Palin is about. It’s like taking a stroll through her brilliant political mind.

Yeah, the book is blank. It’s a gag gift. And a good one at that.

You can get it at amazon.com for $19.95, or if you’d like some anti-Palin words in your anti-Palin, book you could go with the other (more famous) Going Rouge. It’s the one that has the cover that is nearly identical to Palin’s actual book. It’s available at orbooks.com for $16. Despite the blank book getting some face time above, I’d probably go with this one, but only because $20 is way too much to pay for a blank book, no matter how funny the gag is.

But you really can’t go wrong either way.

The Bad

Going Rogue by Sarah Palin

[NOTE: In honor of Sarah Palin not actually writing her book and instead opting to give the actual writing duties over to ghostwriter Lynn Vincent, I asked fellow ITE writer (and frequent Palin reporter) breadwinner to ghostwrite this next section for me.]

First of all, I’d like to thank drocolate for the opportunity to speak to the “merits” of this “book”. At a whopping $11m, and that’s the amount of Palin’s book deal, not the price of this… work, I’m tempted to call this one a Waste of Money rather than merely classify it as The Bad. But as that’s not what I’ve been asked to do here, I will simply tell you why it is my opinion that it would be a bad choice to give to your loved ones.

Where to start…

Now, I wouldn’t think of leaving you without a replacement conservative recommendation, so I’ll just recommend this literary gem as a better choice than the aforementioned work. Plus, it’s holiday-themed!

So as for Going Rogue, I’ll simply say that if you took Going Rouge by Bob Silber and painstakingly wrote the word “bullshit” on each and every one of its 102 pages, it would still contain less bullshit than this book.

Put that in your stocking and STUFF IT!

The Completely Bizarre

It’s the Palin Action Girl Doll! It’s the perfect gift for those people who are tired of playing with their other Palin dolls (like this one) and are ready for something new. In an alternate universe, Sarah Palin is some sort of superhero and she has red hair and weird hands and a really ugly costume. Or maybe she’s a Chinese gymnast.

Yeah I have no idea.
