ITE Holiday Gift Guide — Day 3
Posted by drocolate on December 3rd, 2009

Merry Holidays, everyone!
It’s that time again. Time for all of us to go out there and spend our hard-earned money on unnecessary material goods for our friends and family. The holidays are here! Yes!
But, because 2009 has been extremely hard on the wallet, you can’t just throw your money around on a whim. You need to be sure that you’re getting a great gift, and this is where ITE comes in.
Each day, for the next 24 days, we will be giving you guys some gift-giving advice. We’re going to break every day into three categories: The Good, The Bad and The Completely Bizarre. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory from there.
So with that explanation out of the way, let’s talk about movies available on DVD!
DAY 3 — Movies on DVD

The Good

The Untouchables (Special Collector’s Edition)
I love this movie. And honestly, that’s the only reason I’m recommending the Blu-ray here. As far as Blu-rays go, there are definitely better options when it comes to incredible special features (Example: the new Fight Club Blu-ray just came out and is available on amazon.com for $15.99), but there aren’t that many movies in the history of moviedom that are more… what’s the word I’m looking for?… KICKASS than The Untouchables.
De Niro as Al Capone? Yes, please. Sean Connery in the Oscar-winning role of Malone, the Irish beat cop who knows just about every secret Chicago is hiding? Hell yes! Kevin Costner as Eliot Ness? Believe it or not, YES! Liquor raids? Yeah! Amazing soundtrack? Oh yeah! Dudes in cars? You know it!
And that’s not even mentioning the slow-motion shootout in the train station. Mmmmm…
Yeah, I could nerd out about this one all day.
Seriously, pick it up. Or at the very least get a Netflix subscription and rent it. You and/or the person you gift it to will not be sorry.
Available at amazon.com for $14.99.
The Bad
Terminator Salvation (Director’s Cut)
Ohhhhhhhhh yes.
Those of you that follow ITE know that I’ve got a little history with this steaming pile of shit. I wrote about some of its hilarious shortcomings right after I saw it and then, a few months later, I crowned it as the biggest shit sandwich of the summer movie season. So, knowing this history, it probably comes as no surprise that I’ve chosen it as my pick for the BAD holiday movie on DVD.
But wait!!! This is the Director’s Cut!!!
Well shitballs, my bad. I wonder what director McG added. Was it enough to salvage this franchise-toppling poop burger of a film?
Yeah, the answer to that is a big fat NO. There are like 3 minutes of extra footage… and unless those three minutes are an intricate explanation as to why robots in the future wear do rags and trench coats then I’m not interested.
McG needs to go back to directing Sugar Ray videos for a living. Ass.
Don’t pick up this movie. Just don’t.
The Completely Bizarre

For Your Height Only
Where do I begin? How about with this:
After seeing that do I really need to say anything else? Pick this up now. I own it and I recommend it one million times over.
Seriously. Get it. Now.
Available at amazon.com for $12.99.

See you tomorrow! Yule be so happy to see what’s next. See what I did there? YEAH!
Oh, and here’s the rest of the guide:
ENJOY!
