ITE Holiday Gift Guide — Day 1
Posted by drocolate on December 1st, 2009

Merry Holidays, everyone!
It’s that time again. Time for all of us to go out there and spend our hard-earned money on unnecessary material goods for our friends and family. The holidays are here! Yes!
But, because 2009 has been extremely hard on the wallet, you can’t just throw your money around on a whim. You need to be sure that you’re getting a great gift, and this is where ITE comes in.
Each day, for the next 24 days, we will be giving you guys some gift-giving advice. We’re going to break every day into three categories: The Good, The Bad and The Completely Bizarre. I think it’s pretty self-explanatory from there.
So let’s get it started on this first day of December with some music gift advice from jolly old St. drocolate.
DAY 1 — Music

The Good

Phoenix — Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
This album is good. Really good. I could lecture on about why it’s so solid and why it’s the best album of 2009 and why music from it keeps popping up randomly in Cadillac ads and on episodes of CSI (not a bad thing) and why it’s like a gateway drug into the rest of their excellent, older catalog (also not a bad thing) and why it’s the perfect music for most settings and why “1901″ is the best song I’ve heard in a long time… but no one wants to hear a lecture.
Wait…
Shit.
Seriously. Pick this one up and burn yourself a copy before you gift it. You won’t be sorry.
Available at amazon.com for $9.99.
The Bad

Owl City — Ocean Eyes
So you guys have probably heard this “Fireflies” song by now. It’s this steaming pile of shit about a dude dancing with bugs in his bed (bedbugs?). A lot of people have been making comparisons between Owl City and The Postal Service (including me), but in truth, the two groups couldn’t be further apart. On the surface they’re both “electronic sounding” bands with weak-voiced whisper singers but the arrangements on one Postal Service song run circles around the entire Owl City album. It’s just bad.
I’m going to stop there before I come off like a total dick (too late?), but do yourself a favor and steer clear of Owl City and their bedbugs this holiday season.
The Completely Bizarre

Marvin Sease — The Best of Marvin Sease
Marvin Sease is a soul singer. He is also the godfather of cunnilingus jams. Yes, you read that right. The dude has a one-track mind and that track is completely devoted to, well, pleasuring a woman, with, well, your mouth. I don’t want to get into any more detail (this is a fucking family blog after all), but with song titles like “Candy Licker” and “I Ate You For My Breakfast”, I don’t have to.
Go ahead and check this out. If you dare.
Available at amazon.com for $14.99.

See you tomorrow! Ho Ho Ho!
Oh, and I apologize for my headers up there… I just really love holiday clip art.

I’ve heard good things about My Dragon Is Awesome’s upcoming album. Do you suggest I check it out?
