In This Economy?

Work sucks. Everyone knows this. However, some people take their distaste for their jobs to new levels.

Aaron Seibers is one of these people.

Mr. Seibers was an employee at the Blockbuster Video in Edgewater, Colorado. He recently hatched a plan to get out of working there that involved him stabbing himself in the leg and then concocting a ludicrous story about an attack.

Here’s how it went down.

According to Mr. Seibers, he was confronted by three “skinheads or Hispanic males dressed in black” (huh?) while walking to work. The men tried to rob him and stabbed him in the lower leg. Police from five different agencies responded to the scene and fanned out to find the three Hispanic, skinhead, made-up perps. They even brought dogs. Shockingly they didn’t find anything.

Meanwhile Mr. Seibers was notifying Blockbuster that he wasn’t going to be able to make it into work while receiving treatment for one very deep stab wound and several other superficial knife wounds.

Wait.

What?

Several other superficial knife wounds? So this dude cut himself a few times before finally deciding to go through with this stupid plan? Wow. He REALLY hates restocking DVDs.

At this point the cops connected the dots (and saw some security camera footage that contradicted everything Mr. Seibers had said) and asked Aaron to come clean. He did. He told the cops that he had stabbed himself in the leg because he didn’t want to go to work.

Obviously he’s never heard of a fake doctor’s note.

So now Mr. Seibers has a hole in his leg, two criminal charges on his record (filing a false report and obstructing justice) and a nasty reputation for being both lazy and a sadist.

Nice work, dude. Next time just restock the video games and deal with it.
