In This Economy?

Well would ya look at that? Just when we needed something free to help offset the cash monies we all dropped at the State Fair of Texas, somebody went ahead and put the FREE into FREEB!RDS.

Wrap that in foil and smoke it!

Now, I haven’t yet had occasion to sample one of their taco creations, but I’m thinking this little promo is just the push I need to get out there and try one. This Tuesday (tomorrow), they’re offering up free tacos at all their locations, according to their Twitter account, radio spots, and other blogs like this one. Get some more FREE while you’re at it, and register to be a FREEB!RD Fanatic for a membership card, that earns you points, that eventually add up to free shit. And needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway), in this economy, we need all the free shit we can get.

I for one would just like to take a moment and declare here on this ITE stage that FREEB!RDS is —in my opinion— far superior in taste, quality and personality to all other burrito joints I’ve come across. This comes despite the fact that they’ve got that cute little exclamation point in their name. And you get to make little dinosaurs and whatnot with the foil wrappers, which can’t be sanitary. Anyway, I’m talking about you: Qdoba, Chipotle, Baja Fresh and the like. Places where you go through the line and design a burrito to your taste. I’m sure there will be an unnecessary debate over this, and maybe even a few competitors will be mentioned that I’ll need to try. But it’s likely the result will be the same. I’m just sayin’.

I like burritos.

I know we’re supposed to be talking tacos here, but how do you take your FREEB!RD burrito?

Personally, I’m all about a: half bird on a spinach tortilla, with white meat chicken, refried beans, jack only, sauteed veggies, lettuce, tomato, onion, bbq sauce and chopped avocado (not guac — and yes, it’s worth the upcharge).
