Joe Wilson’s stupid mouth is worth more than 2 million bucks

As we all know by now, Rep. Joe Wilson yelled out “you lie” during President Obama’s speech on health care reform last week. The stupid act and its subsequent media coverage quickly overwhelmed the speech itself and were the hot topic all weekend long. Wilson apologized. Obama accepted said apology. Wilson came back and said he was through apologizing. House Democrats still insisted he apologize on the floor of the house. The little tiny bickering children continued back and forth and the media orgasm that accompanies a public official putting not only his foot, but his whole leg, in his mouth only amplified the histrionics.

And meanwhile, in the state of South Carolina, millions of dollars were being flushed down the political toilet.

Since the outburst, both Joe Wilson and his competitor in the upcoming election for his seat have raised, according to their respective offices, more than a million bucks each. That’s more than 2 million dollars. All because a dude said something stupid.

I wonder what kind of money Kanye will pull down after his VMA-redeeming stunt last night…

The whole thing just seems crazy to me.

To the people who sent money to Rob Miller (that’s Wilson’s democrat competition), an economy in the dump didn’t do it. Nor did a fractured health care system. Nope. You were waiting for that one thing to push your donating trigger finger over the edge and thankfully one childish Tourettes-ish outburst finally did it. I guess overall that’s a good thing, but to donate to one candidate just because the other candidate is a complete asshole who can’t control himself seems a little off to me. But not nearly as off as…

…the people who sent money to Joe Wilson. You’re actually rewarding this guy for coming off like an ignorant jerk. Sure, you may agree with his belief that Obama is secretly planning to give every single illegal immigrant free health care (that’s not all Obama’s got hiding in his health care bill…), but you still shouldn’t reward such behavior. You guys may as well send checks to everyone who says something stupid. Like the previously mentioned Kanye, or Serena Williams, or President Obama. Yeah.

The whole thing is just such a waste of money. Bleh.

THE END.
