ITE Free Music Week, Day 2: thesixtyone

Posted by drocolate on July 14th, 2009

Free shit is awesome.

Free shit that helps you get through a laborious work or school day is even awesomer.

So, with this is mind, I’m going to be profiling a different free and legal online music resource every day this week. If you already know about them, then good for you, keep up the good work. However, If you don’t, then give them a try. You may find that the work or school day goes by faster when you’ve got some great music playing in your ear.

Oh yeah!

Day 2: thesixtyone

thesixtyone

Thesixtyone is awesome.

Why it’s awesome…

Thesixtyone is a completely unique online music experience. It’s one part music resource, one part, game, one part social network and one part bad ass musical stock market.

Basically all you do is sign up HERE and then start listening to music. Thesixtyone has thousands of songs in tons of different genres that you can listen to at the touch of a button.

But that’s not what makes thesixtyone special. The really cool things have to with the points.

Let me explain.

You’ll have some points to begin with. These points can be used to “bump” songs that you like. If you bump songs that other people like, you get points back. So if you get in on the ground level with a new hit song and invest in (bump) it, you’ll see huge point profits.

You can see how that bad ass musical stock market part works in now, right?

There’s a lot more to it than just that so check it out for yourself now by going HERE.

The downside…

If there is any downside it’s that the interface can be a little confusing at first. I’d say that thesixtyone has a steeper learning curve than any of the other sites I’m going to profile this week. But, it’s worth it. When you start racking up points you’ll get a great feeling of satisfaction.

Check it out for yourself HERE.

See ya tomorrow!
