It’s obvious that “There’s a Winner Inside” could on for another five minutes (including outro fadeout) at the end, but the studio pressured the director into cutting most of it. So what does he do? Drops that awesome “Everything is terrible!” graphic on a stock photo of outer space to show the world the despair he feels now that his vision has been co-opted. This is the work of an auteur before he has any pull in the industry. A proto-auteur. I look forward to his next project.
