You can’t spell advertising without ITE: Red House Furniture

Posted by drocolate on April 30th, 2009

Red House Furniture is an ordinary furniture store in North Carolina. They recently worked with youtube-veterans, Rhett and Link on a new commercial and came up with the following:

This thing, of course, is going viral (like SWINE FLU! OMG!!). The awesome thing about it though is that this ad was made with every intention of going viral (Unlike a similar classic ad from a few years back). Rhett and Link speak to this in the video’s description. Check out an excerpt below:

“We knew this video was going to be controversial. Anytime race is discussed in any capacity, controversy ensues. The racial reconciliation concept was a joint effort between the Red House staff and us. They pointed out the fact that their employees and customer base were like the “Rainbow Coalition”, and we thought something with a comical racial reconciliation theme would be fun, as well as a conversation starter.”

Very cool. Plus — in addition to being a piece of daring, savvy, ahead-of-its-time marketing — it’s also really funny.

Nice work, dudes.
