Today I’m going to rant pointlessly about:
Creed’s New Album
Yesterday started like any other day. I ate some free KGC, stocked up on Tamiflu and ordered my Survival Seed Bank. Things were good.
Then something came across my desk that changed everything.
“Band Creed Reunites for new album”
Oh no. Not these guys again. Just when I thought it was safe to listen to the radio, they’re back.
This new album, which is tentatively called Full Circle, will be out sometime this year and will coincide with a full slate of tour dates that will take them across the heartland and beyond.
Can I just take a second to comment on how amazing that tentative album title is. I mean, do you get it? Full Circle. Like, because they haven’t played together in six years and now they are, so it’s like they’ve made a full circle both as a band and as human beings. And I bet each one of them have made a lot of full circles with their families and their hobbies and other shit, too. Fuck me, that title is outstanding. I want them to drop that tentative bullshit right now and just come out and say that Full Circle is the title. But that’s Creed for you, always so mysterious and creative and amazing…
…and completely fucking terrible.
I’m not going to dance around it. I hate Creed. I really do. I think they’re like the grand-pappies of lowest common denominator, tight jeans rock. I hate basically everything about them. And I really hate Scott Stapp, their lead singer and lead douchebag.
Why do I hate Scott Stapp? Well, here’s his quote when asked about the reunion:
“We never felt like we weren’t together. We’re not looking at this as a reunion. It’s more of a rebirth.”
HOLY EFFING BALLS! ARE YOU SERIOUS!??! A REBIRTH??! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!?!
I need to calm down…
The People article also points out that Mr. Stapp was the one who pushed for the reunion. Could that be because his solo album, which he went off and made after the other nameless dudes in Creed kicked him to the curb because he was even too much of a douchebag for them to stand, tanked like Ishtar?
Nah, I’m sure that didn’t have anything to do with it at all.
Enough with the hating though. What about Full Circle? What about the music! Scotty, do you have anything you can tell us about Creed’s new sound?

Never really got the whole “love Creed/hate Creed” controversy. To me, a couple of listenable songs here and there, but nothing that raised my hackles in a “I HATE IT/I LOVE IT” kind of way.
Why so serious?
The real reason I hate Creed is because they’re the cause of Swine Flu.
Not many people know that, but it’s true.
All I know is, I didn’t get a Creed Week back when I was in high school. Kids have it so easy these days.
Don’t know why everyone has to hate on one of the best buttrock bands in history.
This is the BEST news I’ve ever heard…in my entire life. The one band that actually improved people’s lives by giving them a second Christ to look up to and give true hope that life can be worth living! Scott Stapp will be remembered as the songwriter of our generation, not to mention easily the best SHOW of our Millenia! Even his National Anthem soars skyscraper-height over Aretha’s inaugural rendition! I love Aretha, who doesn’t, but Scott dominates… and we should bestow upon him the honor and rock-god glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

I honestly completely agree with Creed4Life. It’s a shame that the music world today has sufficed to the likes of Fallout Boy and whatever the fuck the other bands are…Mind you, they all sound the same and they have one radio hit (however, only in the US) that makes them famous (again, only in the US) and don’t know what to do with it anymore. Kids will be kids, and unfortunately you are all in your premature state of minds right now. Since the dawn of time, times have changed, and so will you. Wait ’til those adult eardrums kick in and you start appreciating what real rock music was intended to be.

I’m old and have little discernment. I didn’t care for Creed because I thought they were a watered down Pearl Jam and I thought Pearl Jam was the weakest of the “Seattle” bands. However, when I was your age, I too knew how to spell &/or type and when to use the correct homonym. I listened to bands from Black Flag to King Crimson and received derision and almost got into physical altercations several times for listening to fag music. However, now I have a hot wife and a cool house and I’m not willing to go back. I’m going to buy the Creed album, get a bumper sticker and T-shirt, grow a far too thought out van dyke – maybe even get some ‘ink.’ 35,000,000 people can’t be wrong. I’m a winner.

I decided to weigh in on this debate….Creed was a band that collectively had more cretive ability than any other band of their time…excluding Metallica of course….Stapp is a bit of a tool but tell me one lead singer thats not…Mark Tremonti is viewed by many as one of the most talented around(He was in Rolling Stones Top 10 Guitarist). In a era of nickelback and homogenius music its by far time Creed returned to the spotlight and give rock a little change and shake things up…I personally cant wait to buy my tickets here in Orlando…Rock on Creed!!

This morning I had a vision. I woke to sunlight beating down on my face, my eyes moist from the loss of forgotten dreams burned away by the morning’s birth.

Holy shit! I didn’t realize this debate was going on. Allow me to chime in with a withering high-brow criticism of Creed and Creed fans: You all blow goats. Literally. You put goat penises in your mouths and perform fellatio until the goats bleat with euphoria and you swallow their goat semen like so much goat milk. At least that’s what Creed’s “music” and their cheering fans sound like to me. (By way of explanation, I grew up in a rural ‘hood.)
I don’t really care for Creed’s music, but I do respect anyones right to decide for themselves. I find it amusing that one would site Creed’s chart topping successes as proof of there musical talent, while disparaging Rihanna, Jonas Brothers and Fallout Boy despite theirs. I like Creed and will be seeing them in August, but I actually LOVE Alter Bridge…Myles Kennedy is a better lead singer for the band (check them out if you haven’t yet)! I know there are a lot of Creed haters out there and Stapp’s stupid comments and actions have only fueled the fire. Not sure what your problem is with Mark Tremonti, though, seems to be a great guy and can really jam on his guitar. Still, love their music and can’t wait to see them. It cracks me up to see this stuff though…good creative comments!

Your first entry really caught my attention and made me laugh…and now I am hooked ( the videos are hilarious). Second, your statement about Creed being the most successful rock band in HISTORY is incorrect. Whether we are basing this idea of success you’re talking about on fame, money made or records sold, Creed is still way behind bands like U2, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. But I’m sure you think those bands suck, and that’s fine. I just want to make sure your hyperbolic statements about Creed’s accomplishments aren’t mistakenly looked at as fact by others. That would be bad.
Third, I never said Creed wasn’t successful. I simply said that they suck. Really, really, really, really bad.

Creed is a great band full of hard working guys, who are one of those rare bands who have lyrics that actually make sense and aren’t just nonsensical rubbish thrown onto a beat. If you can’t respect them, you really don’t respect rock in general, and you should just stick to your hip-hop-esque mixes, because nobody values your opinions. Lastly, don’t write a post simply about how you hate a band, nobody knows you and/or gives a fuck, review the music, comment on its essences, or anything even remotely related to fucking anything you worthless excuse for a poster/blogger/whateverthefuckyouthinkyouare. Bottom-line is that even though you call it a waste of money, I would be willing to wager that this will be a very high grossing concert tour and album launch. I haven’t bought an album in like 10 years but I will probably buy this one just because I support artists who put some thought and creativity into their work, not mindless beat-jockeys turning out new albums like they’re going out of style, with lyrics and sounds we’ve all heard before in unrefreshing new ways.
Get a life haters, review some rap albums if you need to write a negative post, or better yet, just read your own unbased bullshit.
I think the fact they put a guitar solo in the first single back says a lot about how they have changed. Plus, Mark Tremonti’s guitar work has evolved for the better through his other work with Alter Bridge and Fret12.

I’ll start off by saying that I take neither side in this argument and am indifferent towards Creed as a band, and the members of Creed as individuals. This blog does irritate me, though. Please do not criticize another person’s grammatical/mechanical errors over the Internet just to try to make yourself look more intelligent to others. Browsing through the various comments and arguments, I noticed you doing this more than once. If you are so intelligent, you would also know that Einstein (along with other brilliant people in history) were poor spellers. Whether these errors be typos, or just lack of spelling abilities, they have no correlation to a person’s overall intelligence. Also, it’s the Internet. Get used to it.
As a review of your blog (with an unbiased opinion towards the band) in general, I would like to say that it is very juvenile in its delivery. You give no logical statements to help back up your opinions and you seem to be sharing your thoughts in a way that will purposely stir up an argument. Give a review of a song instead of just stating that “it’s bad”. If anything, you seem to have a problem with the members of the band more than their music. Judging by your post, you just seem to have a strong hatred towards Scott Stapp (going as far as picking on his choice of words to describe his band’s reunion?). Please. If you want confrontation, do it in a more mature fashion.
To further emphasize the irrelevance of pointing out a person’s typing abilities, I will take the time to state the fact that I made a mistake in my previous post. I used parentheses instead of commas in one of the sentences. But wait! I made a mistake in my post! That must mean I’m dumb! Or it could mean I missed an error while re-reading my post. This being the reason why all professional writers even need editors.

I used to listen to Creed, when I was 12. I thought I was being cool, like the high schoolers. Then I met a girl and she told me about her disdain of them. I wanted to save face, so I agreed. Oh the shame! Shortly after I began listening to bands with absolutely no substance to them like The Sex Pistols, Ramones, and even that one hit wonder Beatles group. I guess karma caught up with me because by high school I had lost the girl and Jesus. By then I was only into obscure albums like Thriller. I couldn’t stnd the music I listened to but felt I was too absorbed to just leave the Bee Gees behind.
I feel like this new Creed ablum is my time for redemption. Not to listen to them though. I’m going to take my ques from the other fans and go where the crowd is out. Let me just check out http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?table=tblTop100

Saw Creed in concert last night and they really would change your mind, as long as you have an open mind. They truly rocked out, and put on a great show. Unfortunately, you must have grown up in an era when music had already began to suck, since you can’t appreciate some good rock and roll. Sounded just like the albums, and a lot of crowd interaction.
I’m not a Creed follower, but I need to defend them. What I observe is about 80% of people say they hate Creed. Yet in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, 95% of all people in the universe were banging their heads to Creed and blasting it through their stereos. That comes to a total of 175%, which means that there are a lot of bandwagon-riding hypocrites out there.
And any decent guitar player knows who Mark Tremonti is. He doesn’t try to showcase it, but he is an amazing guitarist who practices many, many hours each day. He takes his craft seriously and would walk all over anyone else in the genre. It just so happens that I am not particularly fond of their genre.
Seriously. I bet all you now Creed haters use to listen to them religiously. I bet you all listened to NKOTB and Boyz to Men too but now bash them. Creed rocks, they did back in the 90’s and still do today. I saw them in concert back in the 90’s when Nickleback opened for them. It was amazing. Grow the fuck up and find a job instead of wasting time putting a website together to bash creed. And you wonder why the economy is suffering. Hearing Creed was back and doing another album was the best news in music this year. Creed has helped me through many hard times. Their music and songwriting is full of heart and soul. Another waste of money, in the same vein as Creed’s new CD…the Backstreet Boys new CD. I’m getting nauseous just thinking about it.
The fact that this person thinks it’s safe to listen to the radio in the first place shows his actual credibility. The only reason people have ever hated Creed so much is because they were played SO much on the radio. Human Clay(the one with Higher, With Arms, etc…) sold over 10 million copies. You know how many albums have done that? 17. That’s it. So imagine the type of radio play one of the 17 most popular albums of all time is going to get? Of COURSE people got tired of it. But instead of recognizing that for what it is, everyone just jumped on the “Stapp thinks he’s christ and he’s a douche bag Creed sucks fuck you creed huhuhuhuhuhahaha i have no opinion of my own” bandwagon and the rest is history. I can understand someone simply not liking Creed at all. They’re too serious, very radio friendly, sing about god stuff soemtimes, and Stapp…well…he really is a douche. However…Tremonti is a very talented guitar player, Stapp(when sober) can be a great singer\frontman, and together they form a very good songwriting team, which is what lead to them selling over 20 million albums…not that that measures talent because it doesn’t, popularity often means shit in my book. But in Creed’s sake…the hatred directed at them is so ridiculously undeserved it’s just unbelievable. Nobody ever talks about the actual music, everybody just shits on Stapp and makes fun of two songs. What a fucking joke. And in case my post isn’t clear, i’m basically saying fuck you.

This is just hilarious. I love how all the Creed fans seem to think that if you don’t like Creed, then you MUST like fallout boy or rap. Maybe someone should tell them that there are more than two genres of music and three artists in the world?
It’s also funny when Creed fans site “meaningful” music, and make the claim that all music, except of course for the holy Band-of-Wonder themselves, is totally devoid of meaning. I have a simple explanation for this – these people don’t understand what a metaphor is. Since Scott Stapp doesn’t use metaphors in his songs, the “meaning” is immediately clear to anybody with a pair of ears.
Finally, yes, I HAVE heard creed, in fact I have “My Own Prison,” “Human Clay,” and “Weathered.” It is no coincidence that I listed those in chronological order, either. Once upon a time they were my favorite band, back when I was 10, and they were literally the only band I had ever heard. Basically what I’m trying to say is I have listened to the band, and am quite familiar with all of their material, so I feel quite justified in saying Creed SUCKS.

Creed has many good tunes, but no matter how hard they try, they will never ever be able to top the song “Blackbird.” If they really wanted to line their pockets with green again, they could have targeted all of their fans that they ever had. All they had to do was bring Miles in as their rhythm guitarist/back vocals. I guess Miles has to patiently sit on the sidelines until Tremonti and his 2 followers(A.K.A. bassist and drummer,lol) finish their tour, so they can write a new cd from the left over music ideas that didn’t make the cut on the new creed album. Miles would have filled the extra spot in Creed and been more profitable to them. Maybe they were all too busy kissing and making up to think of that at the time.
