FREE STUFF ALERT: Arby’s Embraces Technology, Gives Away Free Roastburgers Again
Posted by breadwinner on April 27th, 2009
Put your cell phone down. Now pick it back up — you’re gonna need it. Not to be outdone by competitors offering free chicken or ice cream cones, our good friends at Arby’s are at it again. Just last month we were telling you how to grab a free Arby’s Roastburger and fill your belly ITE. Well, in another attempt to increase trial for their new supposedly-burger-beating product, Arby’s has offered their customers yet another free Roastburger! This time there’s texting involved. Because the kids like that. But you’ve got to act fast — this offer is only good through 4/30. So get texting!
I can’t seem to find any official communication from Arby’s online, but there is rumored to be a TV spot touting this offer. According to blog posts buzzing around the Internet, once you text ROASTED to 74700 you receive a text that you can then redeem (I guess show to the drive-thru cashier?) at your very favorite Arby’s location.
According to one such post, the text message reads,
“Free Arybs Roastburger w purchase of any size drink. Show this msg. Limit 1. Ends 4/30/09.”
Easy as a fried pie. But I’ve been thinking…how is this “Limit 1” going to be enforced? Because the way I see it, you could feasibly hit up every Arby’s you can find, flash that text message and get yourself a hell of a lot of Roastburgers! You’ll eat like a king for weeks! Take that, SPAM®!
And speaking of SPAM®, I wonder how many free Roastburgers it would take to make the number of spam texts you’ll likely get worth your while. Because at that point you just texted “Hey! I’m available to receive massive numbers of marketing messages!” to whatever sleazy promotions company handles the marketing/tracking of this promotion, thereby opening the floodgates. Ah well. Enjoy that Roastburger. Or two, or fifteen…

I only sext with Arby’s.
Free is still overpriced for Arby’s. Call me when Whataburger makes the same offer.
