Absurd Marcus Schrenker update

One of my all time favorite shitheads, Marcus Schrenker, spoke today for the first time since his arrest. In a phone interview to ABC’s Chris Cuomo he said that the claims he attempted to fake his own death through a plane crash are “absurd”.

He offered up his side of the story, which included an explanation of the crash. However, in his explanation, he didn’t mention certain details. For example, he neglected to mention why he claimed to be bleeding profusely on his initial distress call when it turned out he never got cut by any broken glass in the plane. Or why he said the windshield of the plane had imploded even though it clearly had not.

He only mentioned that the plane went through pressure and temperature shifts and that the oxygen levels became dangerously imbalanced.

He also explained away any accusations that he was trying to (really) kill himself upon being found at a Florida campground days after the crash. According to him he was still experiencing after effects from those previously mentioned oxygen imbalances. I guess these after effects were also impairing him as he did unbelievably stupid things like travel hundreds of miles without notifying the authorities, crossing state lines, renting a camp space, sipping Bud Light Lime (mmmmmm, limey), getting a hotel room, using a fake name and riding a motorcycle.

These oxygen problems (or hypoxia) must have also been impairing him as he cut himself in what looked like an attempt at suicide.

The more I think about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole hypoxia thing became the focus of his entire defense. How convenient.

I really recommend going HERE to check out the video of the interview. The bizarre set up they do for Chris Cuomo’s “office” is worth it alone. They make it look like Mr. Cuomo works in a broom closet. The whole thing kind of plays out like an interview you’d see on The Daily Show. It’s great.

As for my two cents, I don’t buy any of it. In my opinion, Mr. Schrenker, while maybe a bit out-of-his-mind at the time, knew full well what he was doing. There are too many factual details that are damning him here, and until he (or his inevitable army of lawyers) comes out and explains them all away (with something more concrete than hypoxia), I’m going to keep on doubting.

Sorry, dude. But I think you’re absurd.
