Obama rejects White House redecoration bailout package
Posted by drocolate on March 30th, 2009
President Obama has rejected the standard $100,000 redecorating budget given to all incoming presidents. He is opting instead to spend money from his own pocket to Obama-ify the White House and Oval Office.
In another “practice what you preach” style move he is also rejecting money from the White House Historical Association. That’s the group that financed a set of $74,000 china for the Bush family.
Quick sidenote: $74,000 china? WTF?!?!
But Obama’s frugality doesn’t end there. It has long been a tradition for incoming presidents to change out the rug in the Oval Office to one that suits them. President Bush replaced Bill Clinton’s dark blue rug with a $60,000 cream colored one (insert Clinton/Lewinsky/ejaculate joke here). President Obama, however, has already said that he likes the Bush rug (insert pubic hair joke here) and will probably keep it.
So, to recap: no federal money, no White House Historical Association money and no new rug. What is Obama’s Oval Office (awesome alliteration…see what I did there?) going to look like?
Only time will tell, but I’m guessing THIS WEBSITE will be heavily browsed. That billiard lamp would look amazing hanging over the new Oval Office desk. And can you imagine how sweet it would be to see President Obama conducting meetings with foreign leaders at his new table and chairs.
