Sarah freakin’ Palin. She’s done it again and gotten in the news for her clothing choices. In the latest of a reported ten complaints against her administration, Sarah was spotted wearing an Arctic Cat snow jacket to the Tesoro Iron Dog snowmachining race!!! THE NERVE!

Wait.

What the hell is an Arctic Cat or an Iron Dog? This must be an Alaska thing. Kind of like how we Americans don’t really get the appeal of the shit Canada likes. Alaska might as well be Canada, but they sure get a ton more press with Sarah Palin in the mix.

According to Palin, “I wore Arctic Cat snow gear at an outdoor event, because it was cold outside.” Well one thing is true: you don’t wear a jacket that looks like THAT because you’re cold. I’m calling bullshit on this one, Palin. I don’t care who you are — if you are plugging something, go ahead and plug it. Even if it is something called Arctic Cat. Tell the people why you’re doing it. Maybe you believe in the company. Maybe it’s a great company to work for or they donate to charity or your cousin’s daughter’s baby daddy works for them. Whatever. But don’t lie to us and say you’re wearing that hideous piece of work because you’re cold. It’s Alaska. I’m certain you have plenty of dead animal furs to wear that are both of superior warmth and that are not flamboyantly-branded.

Let's see that crapjacket one more time.

Let's see that crapjacket one more time.

But Sarah did have a reason for donning that crapjacket. The aforementioned Arctic Cat company just happens to sponsor her hillbilly hubby in that there Iron Dog race. So yeah — Sarah shouldn’t be blamed for “wearing a coat”. However, she should indeed be blamed for A) not taking responsibility (again) for her misguided wardrobe choices, and B) wearing that chartreuse catastrophe in the first place.

But whom does Sarah blame for all the bad press and apparent waste of time and money? Evil Democrat Bloggers. Specifically, blogger Celtic Diva, aka Democrat Linda Kellen Biegel. Let’s call her Evil the Biegel. Okay maybe I will call her that; you can call her whatever you want. Her formal ethical complaint against the Palin camp is that Palin “improperly used her position and state resources to serve her personal financial interests by being a walking billboard for Arctic Cat, a private for-profit company and family business sponsor.” Palin fought back with a lengthy comment about how she also wears clothing featuring Alaskan artists’ names and Glennallen Panthers basketball hoodie. Should she have to avoid all local sports teams’ logos and whatnot just to avoid further ethics charges?

Internet catfight! Hell yeah!

But Palin is clearly missing the point here. It was the conflict of interest that ruffled Evil the Biegel’s fur — I mean feathers — not Palin’s Panther spirit! See, Arctic Cat financially supports Todd Palin’s snowmachining, so basically, Palin wore a company’s branded crapjacket to a snowmachining event, and that company gives her and her family cash monies. P.S. if “snowmachining” is a verb, I think it’s fair that I can make up the noun “crapjacket”. At best, I think her wearing of the crapjacket could be construed as sucking up, rather than a conflict of interest. And considering all the bad PR that’s usually orbiting Palin, it’s probably a wash as far as value to Arctic Cat — or anyone else for that matter — is concerned.
