Get drunk. Get hit by train. Get paid.

A dude in NYC was awarded $2.3 million in damages today after an incident in 2006 where he got drunk, stumbled onto some subway tracks and was run over. His leg was severed in the incident. Yikes.

The dude, Dustin Dibble, was coming home from a night out watching a hockey game on April 23, 2006 when he drunkenly stumbled into the N train subway tracks. The train came by moments later and ran him over. The driver mistook Mr. Dibble for an inert object, and I guess NYC subway operators just love ramming into inert objects. I know I would if I had that job.

Mr. Dibble had been asking for $3.5 million in damages but the incident was deemed to be 35% his fault so he only got the $2.3 milly. His blood alcohol level at the time was .18, so I guess that’s fair.

Unsurprisingly the Metropolitan Transit Authority, who are mired in money problems (but who isn’t?), announced immediately that they are planning to appeal the decision.
